From July 1 to 5 2026, Ojukai will take place at Kanshoji: the traditional way of transmitting precepts in the Sōtō school. During these ceremonies, the different aspects of the practice of Awakening are explained.

One of the highest authorities in Sōtō Zen, Minamisawa Dônin Zenji, despite being 99 years old, will occupy the position of the Master transmitting the precepts.

Other masters—Japanese, European, American—will support these ceremonies through their active presence.

Any beginner will be able to receive the precepts, thus fulfilling their aspiration to live the values of Buddhism. Monks, nuns, and lay Buddhists will also be able to revive their practice of Awakening by receiving the precepts once again.

To awaken and help others awaken is to participate in the evolution of humanity. So, do not hesitate to spread the word about this event.

Whether you wish to receive the precepts or support those who do, you are all welcome at this event.
