OJUKAI – Entering the Way of Zen
You have a connection to Buddhism, a sincere spiritual aspiration…
How about participating in Ojukai ceremonies, the inaugural ceremonies for entering the Way of Buddha?
In Zen Buddhism, this is a major event that brings together novices and experienced practitioners to receive the precepts. From July 1 to 5, 2026, these grand ceremonies will be held at Kanshoji Monastery, which wishes to make them accessible to all.
Rev. Minamisawa Donin Zenji, abbot of one of the two largest Soto Zen temples in Japan, will preside over these ceremonies and transmit the precepts, despite being 99 years old. This makes it an exceptional event.
For five days, you will receive authentic teachings from international masters who will travel from the United States, Japan, and Europe. This is a unique opportunity to take your first steps toward Zen Buddhism in the best possible conditions.

Whether you are a lay beginner, have already received the precepts, or are a monk or nun,
everyone can participate in Ojukai and strengthen their aspiration for awakening.
To awaken and help others awaken is to participate in the evolution of humanity.
