From 1 to 5 July 2026, Kanshoji will host an exceptional event in Europe :
O-jukai, the traditional way of transmitting precepts in the Sōtō school.
It is the realisation of one’s aspiration to live the values of Buddhism, the entry into the Way of Buddha.
During this event, the different aspects of the practice of Enlightenment will be presented.
One of the highest authorities in Sōtō Zen, Minamisawa Dōnin Zenji, will be present despite his 99 years of age and will occupy the position of master who transmits the precepts.
Other masters – Japanese, European, American – will support these ceremonies with their active presence and give teachings.
Any beginner can receive the precepts. Monks, nuns, and lay Buddhists can also revive their practice of Enlightenment by receiving the precepts once again.
To awaken and help others awaken is to participate in the evolution of humanity. So, please feel free to spread the word about this event to those around you.
