Everyone is welcome to this retreat, as well as that of August, especially those who are not satisfied with their life, with the state of the world… those who are looking for a spiritual path, a meaning to their life, in a society driven by selfishness and consumerism.

The retreats are designed for beginners. They consist of an initiation period, followed by a more intensive practice period (summer session : July, 21 – 29). You’ll be invited to live just like the monks, nuns and residents of the monastery.

Throughout the retreat, you will be guided by seasoned practitioners who will help you discover the practice of the Buddha Way in the forms of Sôtô zen: zazen (meditation), rituals, selfless activities for the community, times to share and interact.

Teachings on the practice and buddhist philosophy will be provided by the abbot of the monastery, Taiun Jean-Pierre Faure, assisted by some of his close disciples.

Conditions :
Rate: 250 € for the whole retreat + 10 € – annual membership to Kanshoji Zen Association.
This rate applies if you are a beginner coming to Kanshoji for the first time and for the whole retreat. It includes food and lodging, training and teachings.
