Minamisawa Roshi has been paying particular attention to the spread of Zen in Europe for a long time. He met Master Deshimaru and supported him in his mission. It is no coincidence that he attaches so much importance to Kanshoji, of which he is the founder, and to his present and future influence.

Although he is very old and holds high positions in Eiheiji and the Soto school, he will do us the honour and pleasure of coming to Kanshoji next June. In his presence, the Shinzanshiki ceremony will be held, a ceremony of enthronement of the abbot of the monastery who, on this occasion, sits at the top of the Buddha altar (shinzan: the seat of the mountain).
