The vast sky is not troubled by the passage of clouds. The clouds, in the end, are of the same nature as the sky. The vast sky contains all things - stars, dust, and tiny drops of water. According to causes and conditions water vapour condenses and clouds appear. A while later they disappear.
Clouds are only one passing form of the vast sky. Thoughts, emotions, and memories are only one passing form of the mind. They appear and disappear all by themselves.
Don’t pick and choose. “I want the vast sky without the clouds.” Or else, “I’m only interested in the beauty of clouds.” There’s no need to choose. Simply see the true face of everything. Some people are attached to the empty sky. There is in them a desire for non-existence (nihilism). Other people pursue the productions of the mind (forms). In them there is a desire for existence. But pure existence is elsewhere.
Forms and phenomena are constantly born anew, different. They come from the forever new, forever fresh source; In the midst of phenomena the source is always there.
Phenomena are endlessly coming into being and constantly changing, appearing and disappearing. When they appear they are not driven by a desire for existence. When they disappear they are not driven by a desire for non-existence. It’s only Buddha nature at work. It’s the resonating of Buddha in Buddha, of Buddha through Buddha. That’s our ultimate dimension.
Understand that real practice is non-practice. Stop trying to direct and control things. Let them appear and disappear on their own. Then you can closely study the existence of phenomena and understand their non-existence. Then your life will be full, and empty of suffering.
