Meeting of the European teachers of Soto Zen at Kanshoji
May 31st and June 1st, 2008
The weather is exceptionally nice this week-end at Kanshoji. When the dendokyoshi walked down the alley leading to the temple, the frogs welcomed them with a thunderous concert.
During the months leading to this event, we worked hard to finish the covered walkway and the inner courtyard. On that day, all the flowers were in bloom.
Twice a year, the European dendokyoshi get together to work on the foundations of Soto zen in Europe. Most of the teachers had come from Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, some from AZI, some not. Imamura Roshi, zen Sokan for Europe, and Messrs. Koyu Yamazaki and Shoshi Nagasawa, heads of the Sotoshu Shumusho, came from Japan to be present at Kanshoji.
The discussions and exchanges were fruitful and productive. Kanshoji was at its best and everyone, teachers and temple residents alike, was happy.
